During Mr Chris' class, Chef Andy approached and asked us whether we would want to participate in a Venezuelan food workshop. Rachel, Wen Nin, KY & I was interested in it. It was held on Friday, a day before the Extreme Park Outing. So, we had to be in BUCH by 9 am to register but I arrived at about 10 am because of the packed trains. Ms. May Yuen was in charge of our registration so I signed in and was given a locker to store my stuff and I was also given a goodie bag with recipes and Venezuelan delicacies in it.
Each of the students were assigned to a dish and I was assigned to one of the Venezuelan chefs. We were in charge of making Stuffed Avocado with Shrimps which was the appetizer. His name was José Luis. He told me fetch all of the required ingredients and taught me how to cut the avocados. So I squeezed the lemons while he cut the avocados. He told me to blanch the tomatoes so that its skin can be peeled easily. Matt was there so he boiled the water inside the pot and I put the tomatoes when the water is already boiling. While waiting for the tomatoes, I started chopping the onions while José Luis shelled the shrimps.
I also prepared a bowl with ice to cool the tomatoes. Matt quickly scooped the tomatoes out of the pot when it was done. They cooled down quickly so Matt peeled them as his pumpkin soup was already done. I started chopping the tomatoes after he peeled them. Chef Rasidi taught me how to chop the onions as I had some difficulty. After that, I started slicing the mangoes. José Luis had finished shelling the shrimps. Chef Tamara Rodriguez was the facilitator of the workshop so she oversees all of the dishes. So, he started sauteing the onions first as I sliced the shrimps.
So, after he was done Matt & I scooped the cooked shrimps and filled it inside the avocados. We brushed the avocados with lemon juice before filling them. So, everyone was done with their dishes and we snapped pictures of them. Madam came over to see and hand us the certificate of participation. The Venezuelan ambassador also came. His name is Carlos, almost similar to mine. Each member of the team making the dishes had to talk about their dish and after that, I dived into the food as I didn't have breakfast! The food were awesome! Chef Tamara praised us for doing an excellent job! We had to wash the plates and cutlery so I went home after packing some of the dishes. The workshop was really fun & I learned many things there!!

Extreming at Extreme Park
Extreme ParkA few of the Triple D club members including myself went to Extreme Park last Sat.. I had small group the night before and I was effing tired when I woke up on Sat as I have to be at TS by 7.30! I was late so I arrived at around 7.44 but Wong Sifu arrived 10 mins later. Then, Hein Yew made sure there were 16 of us then off we went to Extreme Park by a school bus. Josh was acting as an announcer of a train. Announcing each LRT station as we went pass them. I fell asleep immediately cz I only had 4 hours of sleep! Then, they woke me up when we arrived there.
We expected to arrive there in 1 hr 15 mins but surprisingly the trip only took 30 mins! It was 8.30 when we arrived, so its not opened yet. As I haven't had breakfast yet, I went for breakfast at KFC. We waited and waited and waited until 9.15 when the instructor came, he told us to start with Wall Climbing first so we divided into 2 groups and my group went for Archery first and the other group started with Wall Climbing. Archery was easy as I tried it before a few years back. Most of my shots were on the target and my group were amazed at my accurate shots. After Archery, we exchanged places with the other group. Wall Climbing was initially quite tough as the foot and handholds are quite small and hard to hang on to them. I did it 1.5 times as my arms had no more strength after climbing halfway.
It was Flying Fox after that, it was exciting but not as much as in the NS camp 2 years ago where it was much longer than the one in Extreme Park. Some of them were afraid of heights so they closed their eyes and held on the the rope tightly as they slide across to the other side. Then, we had lunch at Burger King and I ordered the new "Angry Whopper", it was effing spicy with all the chillies and hot sauce in it. After lunch, it was the best activity ever, Paintball! We went to take our gear inside the store room. Then, we walked to the Paintball area where we were briefed on the rules of the game. Its a 5 on 5 game so in the first round, I chose to be a sub as I wanted to take a rest first.
The first round ended with the other group winning when Michelle grabbed the flag. So, I replaced Hein Yew in the 2nd round but we lost again as the flag was again captured by the opposition which was by Josh. In the 3rd round we planned a strategy and it resulted in a victory as Shafiq grabbed the flag when Hui Jen & I kept the opposition busy as we fired our markers unceasingly and I accidentally fired 1 of the instructors in the chest! He was puzzled as we didn't know who shot him. I pretended that I didn't know about it. We emerged as victors again in the 4th round when Hein Yew took the flag and threw it to Carmen and I managed 2 hits on Josh when he tried to grab the flag. I landed another one directly on Wong's face mask. Headshot! Then came the final round where the winner of the game will be decided as we were geld to a 2-2 draw so far.
The final round was a deathmatch and it was NO MERCY so if one of us gets shot, he/she continues until he/she runs out of pellets. Mine ran out pretty fast and I was shot in the face by Mich.It didn't hurt but the pellet than deflected of my right arm was really painful! In the end, my group won 3-2! Simon & TK still had pellets so they did target practice on bottles that were hung on a tree. It was a really tiring and my face was perspiring from the face mask. We then went for a shower and changed. We were thirsty and dehydrated from all of the activities, so we walked to a nearby mamak to have Teh O Ais Limau. It was ultimately refreshing when I sipped it. We quickly finished and walked back to Extreme Park. Hein Yew was already waiting there and we snapped pictures with the instructors. The bus shortly arrived after taking some pictures.
I was so tired that I immediately fell asleep after taking a seat in the bus. Hein Yew snapped pictures of us sleeping! The bus driver dropped us at the Hang Tuah station so it was easier for us to go back home. I quickly took a cold shower and went to sleep. That was one of the best outings I ever had!
Aftereffects of the activities :
1. Archery - Ached arms
2. Wall climbing - Strength & energy loss
3. Flying fox - Indescribable pain (for the guys) in the groin
4. Paintball - Excruciating pain at the spot where the pellet hit, mine was in my face and right shoulder..
